Ayub Medical College
Ayub Medical College (AMC) (Urdu, Pashto, Hindko: ) is a leading medical institute and one of several medical colleges affiliated to Khyber Medical University located in Abbottabad, Pakistan.〔 AMC is home to 1500 students in the MBBS and BDS programs, with clinical rotations occurring at Ayub Teaching Hospital. Faculty members hold appointments at basic sciences and clinical departments. == History ==
AMC was established on 9 May 1979, after a decision by the government was made to establish another medical college outside the Peshawar region in a bid to aid in development of medical health care in the Hazara region. The first batch of 100 students were accommodated at the Education Extension Centre, while the present campus and teaching hospital were being constructed north of the town. District Headquarters Hospital in Abbottabad remained affiliated to Ayub Medical College upon the opening of Ayub Teaching Hospital in 1998. On 30 December 1990, the AMC campus of opened its doors to students and faculty. AMC was named after former President Ayub Khan, who hailed from nearby Haripur. Today AMC hosts one of the largest medical college campuses in Pakistan.〔http://www.ayubmed.edu.pk〕
